Carolyn Langston Stevens Scholarship Fund
The following biography was written at the time of this scholarship establishment; some information may not be up to date:
Carolyn Langston Stevens was born and raised in Danville, Virginia and graduated from Woman’s College of the University of North Carolina (now UNC Greensboro) in 1941 with a degree in art. She returned to her alma mater 18 years later and earned a teaching certificate in primary education and began teaching in Greensboro Public Schools. Carolyn’s experience of returning to the classroom as a non-traditional student shaped her vision for the scholarship fund. Her intent is to establish an endowed scholarship to benefit students who want to teach, especially older students returning to the classroom for initial teaching licensure or receiving training for additional certification or an advanced degree. The fund will be a source of assistance for this particularly specified student.
Carolyn Stevens passed away April 17, 2007.
