Brette Powell Endowed Scholarship Fund
The following biography was written at the time of this scholarship establishment; some information may not be up to date:
Born and raised in Lewisville, North Carolina, Brette has worked and lived all over the country (22 states in all). Brette attended Appalachian State where she obtained a bachelor of science in electronic media/broadcast communications with a minor in leadership studies, in 2014. After graduation, Brette spent two years as an educational leadership consultant for Delta Zeta national sorority, where she managed and enhanced programming for 45+ chapters nationwide. During this time, Brette thought back to her childhood when she watched her father make a choice to return to school and complete his degree as a non-traditional student. This inspired Brette to want to achieve more in his honor. In 2016, Brette enrolled in the master of business administration program at the UNCG Bryan School of Business and Economics. As a student, Brette struggled financially but eventually earned a scholarship that would provide enough for her to complete the program. While in school, Brette served as president of the National Association of Women’s MBAs as well as a member of the Bryan School’s President’s Council. In her final semester of the master’s program, Brette earned a prestigious spot as a White House Intern that ultimately turned into a permanent position in White House Management Room 1 as a member of the Finance Team. Brette has always been passionate about empowering young leaders to reach their fullest potential and has always dreamed of setting up a scholarship for students who need a little help—just like she did.
