Board of Visitors Chancellor's Scholarship Fund
The following biography was written at the time of this scholarship establishment; some information may not be up to date:
In 1999, the UNCG Excellence Foundation Board of Visitors formed a scholarship endowment committee to explore how the board might address the University’s critical need for merit scholarships. In an address to the board’s leadership, Chancellor Patricia Sullivan has identified the means to recruit the best students to UNCG as being one of her top priorities for private fund-raising support. After nine months of meetings and research, the committee, chaired by Pat Cross ‘68, proposed that the Board of Visitors undertake a campaign to raise $600,000 over four years to create a Board of Visitors Chancellor’s Scholarship fund, to be administered through the Merit Awards Program. The board gave the idea its unanimous approval on October 26, 2000.
