Betty Covington Bowman Endowed Scholarship
The following biography was written at the time of this scholarship establishment; some information may not be up to date:
Betty Covington Bowman grew up near Greensboro and graduated from Alamance High School in Guilford County. In 1955, she received a bachelor of science in business education from Woman’s College (now UNC Greensboro), and she taught school in Guilford and Randolph County for 30 years before retiring in 1985. At the time of this scholarship establishment, Betty and her husband, R.D. Bowman, are active members of Julian United Methodist Church, where they volunteer their time. It is out of their desire to help students better themselves that they wish to establish the Betty Covington Bowman Endowed Scholarship.
